Expert, Independent AHPRA Application Review – for UK and Irish Doctors

Specialist Medical Workforce guidance for Competent Authority pathway applicants. Independent of recruitment agencies, job placements, or migration referral incentives, so the advice is about your application, not someone else's commission.

IMG Registration Australia provides independent advisory services and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of AHPRA or the Medical Board of Australia. We do not guarantee registration outcomes.

The Problem

Why so many strong applications still get delayed

Avoidable delays
The most common reason applications stall

Most AHPRA application problems aren't about whether you're qualified. They're about how the application is prepared.

Hospital-based medical workforce offices are stretched thin. Staff turnover in these roles is high, and incoming officers don't always inherit the same interpretation of requirements as the person before them. The result, for applicants, is inconsistent guidance, last-minute surprises, and avoidable delays, not because the requirements changed, but because the person explaining them did.

For doctors managing a full NHS workload while preparing a registration application from a distance, that inconsistency is costly: every round of "please resubmit" or "please clarify" can mean months added to a process that's already long.

Who I Am

An Australian specialist in the Competent Authority pathway for UK and Irish doctors – working for you, not an agency

5+ years
Australian medical workforce

IMG Registration Australia was founded by Jake Hoskin, who spent five years (2020-2025) working directly within the Australian medical workforce system at Queensland's largest tertiary hospital, a major training and registration site for international medical graduates. This included specialist work on the Competent Authority pathway and Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) registration for fellowship training.

This service was built to solve a specific problem: UK and Irish doctors preparing for Australian registration have had to rely on either free, generalist guidance from recruitment agencies, or expensive, broad-scope migration consultancies not focused specifically on medical registration.

IMG Registration Australia is newly launched, built specifically around UK and Irish Competent Authority applicants. Because the business is new, introductory pricing is available for early clients, giving you expert review at a lower rate than standard pricing, while IMG Registration Australia builds its client base and track record.

Why Independent Matters

Independent advice, with nothing else riding on it

No agency ties
Fully independent advisory

Many sources of AHPRA guidance available to UK and Irish doctors are connected to a recruitment agency or job placement service. That guidance is often free, because the agency's income comes from placing you into a role, not from the quality of the advice itself.

IMG Registration Australia does not place doctors into jobs, take referral fees from employers, or have any commercial relationship with recruitment agencies. The only commercial relationship is with you, the applicant. That means the only incentive is to give you an accurate, thorough review, not to move you toward a placement quickly.

A note on independence: Jake Hoskin's medical workforce experience was gained in a hospital-based role at Queensland's largest tertiary hospital between 2020 and 2025, which has since ended. Jake does not currently work in medical recruitment, hospital workforce, or any role connected to AHPRA registration, doctor placement, or healthcare employers. IMG Registration Australia has no commercial relationship with any recruitment agency, hospital, or employer, and no one pays IMG Registration Australia for advice, referrals, or outcomes.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is this the same as using a migration agent? +

No. IMG Registration Australia reviews your AHPRA application documents and provides medical workforce guidance. We don't provide visa or migration advice; for that, you'll need a registered migration agent.

Do you only support UK or Irish trained doctors? +

No. IMG Registration Australia supports all doctors applying via the Competent Authority pathway, including those trained in the United Kingdom, Ireland, New Zealand, Canada, and the United States.

Will this guarantee my AHPRA application is approved? +

No service can guarantee a registration outcome, as that decision sits entirely with the Medical Board of Australia. What we provide is an expert review to help ensure your application is well-prepared, complete, and free of the common, avoidable errors that cause delays.

Why is pricing so much lower than I expected? +

IMG Registration Australia has just launched, focused specifically on UK and Irish Competent Authority applicants. The first 10 clients on each package receive introductory pricing; after that, prices increase by £50 per package (or £50/month for ongoing support). Booking now secures the introductory rate while places remain.

Are you affiliated with AHPRA or the Medical Board of Australia? +

No. IMG Registration Australia is a fully independent advisory service, with no affiliation to AHPRA, the Medical Board of Australia, or the Australian Medical Council.

Do you work with recruitment agencies? +

No. IMG Registration Australia has no commercial relationship with recruitment agencies or employers, and receives no referral or placement fees. This keeps the advice focused solely on your application.

Is it secure to upload my documents? +

Yes. Documents are uploaded and stored via Microsoft SharePoint, with encryption and access restricted to Jake directly. They're never shared with recruitment agencies, employers, or any other third party. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
